OUR MISSION is to enhance the educational opportunities at EECS and to encourage community and shared experiences with the families and neighborhoods that surround the school.”
We are a small group of parents working to do all we can for the EECS community. We fund a lot of great stuff: during the ‘24 - ‘25 School Year we raised about $6,000 and we spent it all — on field trips for every student, swim lessons, incredible in-school performances by Mayo Street Arts performers, books for the school library, garden classes and plantings, teacher appreciation activities, and fundamental necessities for students that needed them. We also hosted three fun community events - our Fall Festival , Spring Family Dance Party, and End of the Year Ice Cream Party - and we’d like to do it all again and MORE.
The volunteer PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization) and our activity volunteers are busy parents — just like you. We partner with the school — members of EECS staff attend our meetings and we support each other in every way we can. Our primary source of funds are two fall bake sales - one on election day in November, and one at Art on the Hill during the first weekend in December, and we are looking to do more. To pull these off we need a ton of help! Please get ready to bake, organize, approach local businesses, and work the tables. It’s a lot of fun.
In order to do more, we need more volunteers. We need people who are interested in advocacy (specifically around the school budget process), grant writing, organizing, school enrichment, graphic design, working events, baking, approaching local businesses to partner with us, and we would love to hear your new ideas too! Do you have some experience that could help us? Please let us know. We’d love to see you at a meeting, or email us here and say hello. You can see our board members HERE. Please don’t hesitate to stop us anytime if you see us around the school.
